Coco was rescued from a local dog slaughterhouse, and crammed into a filthy holding pen.
She experienced very rough handling by dog meat traders while the rescue was in process.
She is disabled with part of her front leg missing, a sign of a harrowing past hardship. We dread to think what she has had to endure. Understandably she was terrified when we rescued her but this miraculous malamute warmed up very quickly and she soon knew that she was safe.
Seeking guidance about her disability led us to the conclusion that ideally, she needs a prosthetic leg rather than a full amputation. We found a specialist in China and she received her prosthetic recently Sept 2024. She’s still in the process of adapting to it but doing well
She is an incredibly sweet dog, full of love and great with other dogs. She doesn’t allow her disability to hold her back but better days await her. We know the right, patient, loving home for Coco is out there.
